Alternate Environment | 2005 | Post-Consumed Plastic (Containers, Toys, etc) | 36" x 24" x 3 (91 x 61 x 7.5cm)

This piece was constructed in between my Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree.  At some point in time, artists must get a "real" job, and so the time I was able to work
in my studio was drastically cut back.  The work was extremely labour intensive as my off hours basically turned into a material processing plant.  The plastic that I had
collected in the previous years needed a good home, so I decided to cut it up into 2mm x 2mm pieces and glue them to a piece of wood... naturally.
Using the colours of the plastic I wanted to portray an image that was somewhat muted and dreary.  It was meant to be a continuation of the Avian Series, but I only
finished the one 'sculpture' before I trucked off to Montreal.  This is one of the few pieces that has never been seen outside my studio.
